Optimum Insulation Thickness for Building Walls in IRAN

Recently, I was working on project; it was about Determination of optimum insulation thickness for building walls with respect to various fuels, climate zones in Iran and other variables( such as: insulation materials, Glazing Area percentage, infiltration value and ...).my advisers in this project were Mr Kamandlooee and Golestaneh.
It was a part of bigger project about determination of methods for optimum energy consumption in Iranian buildings which is being investigated in "Vehicle, Fuel, and Environment Research Institute". this project was defined by NTOIR.
Although Fuel is sold less than it's real price in Iran, for Climates upper than 63,000 Degree Hours heating requirements using insulation, had economical advantages; when using gas as fuel. and for Climates upper than 21,000 Degree Hours heating requirements using insulation, had economical advantages; when using oil as fuel.
a matlab code was generated by me, that uploaded required data from an *.xls file (such as building materials, insulation data, fuel cost and ...) and generated graphs cotaining following data:
  • Heating and insulation costs versus insulation thickness
  • Optimum insulation thickness versus present worth
  • Optimum insulation thickness versus degree-days for various fuels
  • Anual heaitng cost versus galzing area percantage
  • and so on
